Equality Act 2006
An Act to make provision for the establishment of the Commission for
Equality and Human Rights; to dissolve the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Commission for Racial Equality and the Disability Rights Commission; to make provision about discrimination on grounds of religion or belief; to enable provision to be made about discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation; to impose duties relating to sex discrimination on persons performing public functions; to amend the Disability Discrimination Act 1995; and for connected purposes. [16th February 2006 CHAPTER 3]
The Act places on public organisations a positive duty to:
· Eliminate unlawful discrimination.
· Promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different groups.
It also requires the organisations to
1. Carry out evident-based Equality Impact Assessment systematically to assess their activities, polices and services.
2. Consult people in the community on new polices and services
3. Ensure the accessibility and the suitability of services.
4. Provide equality training for staff.
5. Monitor progress and publish the monitoring reports.

Implementation of Inside Outside Guidance for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust:
- Acted as a guest speaker to open the workshops with a presentation and speech: "A vision for the implementation of Inside Outside Guidance - the Mental Health Implementation Framework & NHS Plan".
- Co-facilitated a workshop on Health, healing and intercultural therapy.
Diversity workshop for Cambridgeshire NHS black and minority staff network - "Positive Action for Positive Change Programme".
